Citric acid appears on the ingredient list of nearly every gummy supplement and candy on the market. Here's a straightforward explanation of what it's actually there for.

What Citric Acid Is

Citric acid is a naturally occurring organic acid found in citrus fruits, and it's also produced industrially through fermentation for use in food and supplements. It's one of the most common food additives in the world, generally recognized as safe by regulatory agencies.

Its Actual Role in a Gummy Supplement

In Alkatide and similar products, citric acid serves two practical purposes: it provides tartness that balances the sweetness of the gummy base, and it helps regulate pH for shelf stability, which affects both texture and how well the product holds up over time.

What It's Not There For

Worth being direct about: citric acid is not included in Alkatide for a specific metabolic, energy, or fat-burning effect. It's a standard formulation ingredient, present at flavoring-and-stability levels, not a therapeutic dose of anything. Any marketing suggesting otherwise for a gummy-level amount is overstating its role.

Is It Safe?

Citric acid is well-tolerated by most people at the levels found in food and supplements. In rare cases, high intake from multiple sources can be associated with tooth enamel sensitivity due to its acidity, or minor digestive discomfort in people who are unusually sensitive to acidic foods generally.

Why Transparency About "Filler" Ingredients Matters

Not every ingredient on a label needs to be a headline-grabbing active compound. Gummies, by their nature as a format, require sweeteners, gelling agents, flavoring, and pH balancers to actually function as a product. The honest approach is disclosing these plainly and not dressing them up as something they're not — which is exactly how Alkatide's "Other Ingredients" list is presented.

Where This Leaves Alkatide

Alkatide has one active ingredient — apple cider vinegar at 250 mg — and a set of standard gummy-base ingredients, including citric acid, that give the product its taste, texture, and shelf life. Nothing hidden, nothing oversold.
